Second Carnival Cruise Ship Sailing Affected Due to Speed Issue
Carnival Cruise Line has altered Carnival Vista’s June 22 sailing, which is now the second sailing impacted by the propulsion issue.
Carnival Vista June 22 Sailing Altered
We’ve already posted about the second itinerary change and delayed embarkation which has hit the Carnival Vista’s current June 15 sailing. The cruise line has also sent out a letter to guests booked on the June 22, 2019, sailing out of Galveston, Texas.
Carnival stated that an assessment of the ship’s maximum cruising speed issue was completed on June 15 and as a result, that sailing was extended from a 7-day itinerary to an 8-day. In turn, this will impact the June 22 7-day Western Caribbean cruise as the ship will return a day later to Galveston on June 23.

No alternative itinerary has yet been released, however, Carnival has stated guests will be informed about changes no later than 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 18. Cruise Hive will keep readers updated when that new itinerary is released.
Carnival Vista has been unable to sail at regular cruising speed so Carnival has needed to change itineraries to accommodate the ship’s speed limitations. The June 15 sailing was altered a second time to five sea days and only calling to Costa Maya and Cozumel which are both in Mexico. Originally the itinerary included Montego Bay, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; and Cozumel, Mexico.

Carnival has apologized to guests and is working hard on repairing the propulsion issues which includes the maximum cruising speed.
Carnival Vista is one of the largest ships in the fleet at 133,500 gross tons with a guest capacity of over 3,900 passengers at double occupancy. She joined the fleet in 2016 and is sister to Carnival Horizon as well as Carnival Panorama which will arrive this December.
