Major European Cruise Line Extends Suspension

Costa Cruises has extended its pause on cruise operations and has cancelled all departures in Northern Europe for the 2020 summer season.

Costa Cruises Extends Pause on Operations

It comes as no surprise that Costa Cruises has made the decision to extend its pause on cruise operations until August 15, 2020. The cruise line has also cancelled all sailings in Northern Europe for the remainder of the 2020 summer season.

The reason for the extension is due to ongoing uncertainty when it comes to the re-opening of ports to cruise ships. The restrictions in place for guests to travel are also impacting when cruises will resume service.

We already know that Costa Victoria is being scrapped so the cruise line is also communicating the cancellation of future cruises to those guests who are also impacted by that.

Guests and travel agents are also being informed of the further extension and they will be guaranteed a re-protection in accordance with the applicable legislation.

Costa is mainly focused on implementing new health measures for when cruises do resume to make sure guests and crew can remain safe. It is a complex process to bring in new guidelines and procedures and cruise lines are working with health authorities to make this happen.
