How About A Weekend cruise to Mexico and the Bahamas
Running out of vacation days ??? A short cruise is still possible.
When you are short on time,,,, squeezing in a satisfying escape can feel like a tall order. Happily, however, I can give you a selection of weekend cruises leaving from several Florida and Californian ports — each of which gets you on board by Friday afternoon, and back home so that you can still make that Monday morning meeting. There is also a big bonus to these short cruises —- these are mini options for those whom have never cruised before to get their feet wet.
From Miami to the Bahamas
Miami has the most weekend sailing options,,, Norwegian Cruise Lines runs 3 night itineraries to the Bahamas aboard the 2004 passenger Norwegian Sky. The ship embarks at 5 pm on Fridays, docks in Nassau on Saturdays,,, and then visits their private isle Great Stirrup Cay on Sundays,,, before returning to Miami on Monday at 7am.. Then the option is yours —– return to work or not….
Carnival also has a sailing from Miami on the 2758 passenger Carnival Victory, featuring the “Fun Ship ” amenities like a 214 foot long waterslide. A dozen bars, comedy club and much more … leaves at 4 Friday — overnight in Nassau — return back to Miami at 8am Monday.
Royal Caribbean also has the 3 day cruises… aboard the 2252 guest Enchantment of the Seas — look for the lines active ship diversions as a rock climbing wall,, bungee trampolines and a trio of pools Leave Friday at 4 and return Monday at 7am.
From Port Canaveral to the Bahamas
A family favorite,,, Disney Cruise Line’s 4000 passenger Disney Dream(with offerings like an AquaDuck “water coaster” and a fireworks at sea spectacular ) likewise makes the 3 night run to the Bahamas on select dates year round. Embarks at 3:45pm on Friday and returning at 7:30 am on Monday. Hop aboard the 2052 guest Carnival Inspiration at 4pm on Friday, spend Saturday at sea,,, have a full day in Ensenada on Sunday,, before disembarking back in Long Beach at 8am on Monday morning.. The Inspiration is fresh off a major renovation that brought on a slew of new food and drink venues like Guy’s Burger Joint,, Alchemy Bar and the Red Frog Rum Bar/ BlueIguana Bar.
Happy Cruising —– This is how I got my start in cruising…. Now we go away for a couple of weeks at a time… Always getting off the ship to enjoy the ambience of the culture where docked… Why would you not —- this is why you took that particular cruise.
